At noon on January 18th, the meeting of democratic life of the leaderships of the Department of Politics was held in Room 125, North Law&Business Building, which was hosted by Zhao Zhengqiao, Committee Secretary of Department of Politics. Feng Wei who comes from university office and all leaderships including the director Liu Qing, the deputy director Yu Jing, the deputy director He Ming, the committee deputy secretary Wang Ziqi and other members attended the meeting. This meeting of democratic life was held focusing on "Earnestly study and understand Xi Jinping’s thought on Socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, firmly uphold the party central authority with Comrade Xi Jinping as the core and the centralized-unified leadership, and fully implement various decisions and deployments 19th CPC National Congress".
First, Secretary Zhao Zhengqiao introduced the preparation of the meeting of democratic life and reported the main situations of the party and government work for one year, according to the requirements of the Party Committee on the democratic life. Zhao mentioned that in the past year, the members of the leadships of our department have shown positive results in learning and understanding the spirit of 19th CPC National Congress and Xi Jinping’s thought on Socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, which has made a remarkable result and brought a good start to the extensive learning activities in the whole department. At the same time, the leaderships haven’t relaxed in implementing the eight provisions of the Central Committee and correcting the "four undesirable work styles” and have always maintained a high degree of self-consciousness. While fully affirming the work of the leaderships in 2017, Zhao also pointed out that there were still many problems in the present work, which mainly reflected in the lack of innovative work methods and initiative in learning. Combined with these problems, the leaderships discussed the future construction plans and targeted rectification measures of our department.
Subsequently, the leaders of the Department launched criticism and self-criticism. Director Liu Qing said in his speech that, as a democratic personage, he had actively invested in the study of the spirit of 19th CPC National Congress and Xi Jinping’s thought on Socialism with Chinese characteristics for a new era, which made him learn a lot. But at the same time, he also realized that his understanding of the new thought was not deep enough and there was still a gap between Zhong Yang and other typical models in the new era. He hoped that all the co-workers could supervise and warn themselves in the future. The other members of the leaderships also made statements one by one to report the achievements and shortcomings of the past year and corresponding improvement measures, according to the inspection materials and basing on their own work practice. All the members also listened carefully to the criticism and opinions of other comrades at the meeting.
At the end of the meeting, Zhao made a concluding speech. Through the convening of the meeting, the leaders of the party and government set up the problems, summed up the experience, and discussed to formulate the corresponding corrective measures, which laid a solid foundation for the department’s new leapfrog development in the new era.
